This little cutie patootie is at @mercantileonbroadstreet for the next couple of weeks to kickoff @tennesseetipsy ! If you haven’t heard of it before, it’s boozy ice cream....WHAT?!? Oh AND they can cater to events!! So. Much. Fun!!!
Today is our 5th wedding anniversary!!! It’s been a wild ride but one I’ll cherish forever. So over the past few days I’ve shared about the beginning of “us”, the wedding and the first few years together.
I also shared a snippet of our year long struggle to conceive. 2017 was a hard year for us. The theme of 2017 was “no”. It seemed like every prayer we sent up was answered with “no” or “wait”. From house hunting to the baby that we so desperately wanted.
After a regular OB apt, we were referred to a specialist. We were skeptical about going but my middle name is “worry” so in November 2017 we went and started planning the next several months of testing visits. Christmas and New Years came and went....A couple weeks later I found the courage to take a test.......
I didn’t believe the first test so I tossed it in the trash. The next day I bought more test (dang they’re expensive) and it showed me the same result. I googled “pregnancy test accuracy” and it was clear. I was pregnant. 👀 wait WHAT?!? Full on freak out mode. 😵🙈🤯 I believe Gods timing is perfect and I didn’t put my faith in that...at all.
Our story is full of ups and downs and grace. We don’t deserve anything we have-really we don’t.
So today, we’re celebrating our last anniversary kiddo free with BBQ and ice cream because let’s be honest....a fancy dinner just doesn’t fulfill a prego lady! We’re very excited about this next chapter together as we add a little BOY this fall. We’re over half way there and we can’t wait to meet our son.
I hope our story is encouraging (or at least semi-entertaining) to someone out there. Our love story is my favorite and I hope your love story is told throughout your relationship with your significant other!

More about us👇🏻👇🏻
After the wedding, we started adjusting to our new life together.
Year 1: We bought a house and delved into remodeling and making plans for the future. We paid off my school debt in 1 year and what a relief that was! Year 2: James decided to start a small scale mowing company to operate during the summer months. Enter Louie, our precious first dog together. Louie quickly became by bff! We ended up adding our sweet girl, Zoey the following year.
Year 3: During this time I started brainstorming and Pinterest daydreaming turned into a business plan for The Little Prop Shop. Searching, traveling, and building our collection took up the majority of our weekends during this year.
Year 4: talks of babies whirled around and we said we would love to start a family. After trying for a year those plans of babies didn’t happen like we had planned (and I’m a PLANNER). A whole new level of anxiety began to start. We also started getting more serious about saving $ and paying off some measly debt we we had accumulated.
Tune in tomorrow on our anniversary to find out what’s coming up and changing for this 5th year!! 😃

Today I’m sharing about our wedding and first apartment. Scroll left!
We had a very simple wedding. We wanted to say “I do” and be done 🤣 no bridal party, no super fancy expensive gown, nothing was over the top. We bought our flowers wholesale and Mrs Jody from our church made my bouquet and all the arrangements. Her and her late husband used to own and operate a floral shop in Piney Flats. It was a joy letting her be a part of our day.
Our cake was made by one of our family friends, also at our church. I don’t tell too many people this but my parents bartered a portable chicken coop for the cake 🍰 🐔
The music director at church played the bridal march for me to walk down the aisle. There weren’t any special dances at our wedding.
My mom and other family made all the food we served at the reception and there were notecards of who brought what displayed by each item.
I say all this because our day was a celebration of our vows with our closest friends, family, and biggest mentors. The people at our wedding helped mold and shape us into the people we were at that point and we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day.
Our first apartment was....small. 550 sq ft to be exact. It lasted 6 months before I reached my breaking point. We ended up buying a house and moved in before our first anniversary.
Tune in tomorrow to hear about the past 4 years leading up to where we are today. 💕
It’s our anniversary week and as promised, I’m sharing some tidbits about us that you probably don’t know.
We’re Courtney and James Massey and we make up the team here at the LPS.
We both work full time jobs through the week currently and James mows 17 yards in the evenings. We have 2 standard poodles that we adore and are currently restoring a 1972 Ford Bronco. We’re pretty boring honestly 😂🤣 . . . . . .
We met during my senior year in high school and my first impression of Jamie (at the time) was “he’s nice. He reminds me of my dad...” I graduated and didn’t think about this dude again....until I saw him on ETSU’s campus a couple years later. We hit it off and that was the beginning of “us” and led to this photo here. A year after dating, he popped the question at Biltmore and we started planning our wedding. . . . .
I can’t wait to share more about us tomorrow and tell you a little about our wedding and our first apartment!! Photo: @jessipansockphotography . . . . .
